WEEKLY REPORT - 8

Dear Referees and Video Observers.
Thank you for your performances, and contribution, to the successful BCL games last week. Together, the players, coaches and you, our referees, created another great round of games. From the eight games, five games were won by the guest team, showing our 50:50 approach and the possibility for each player or team to show their best.
Some interesting data from our Video Observers:
IRS USAGE - HEAD COACH CHALLENGE
Five requests for out of bounds situations, the last touch. Four times the Referees changed their initial decision. Again, this shows us the impact the HCC has had in supporting us get the proper final decision and reducing the numbers of conflict situations.
POSITIVE
- Control of fake being fouled actions. With this correct and confident approach, we are cleaning the game, the basketball. Continue with this proper recognition.
- Good, correct no calls in transition. Simple, proper usage of the philosophy OBR, Art 47.3.
- Game clock/shot clock control
TO IMPROVE
- Incorrect usage of IRS, non-authorized situations. Be careful, this can be a reason for the accepted official protest.
- Marginal calls. This is a significant weakness in our officiating and whilst it will not destroy the game, it will leave a bitter taste of our officiating.
- Unnecessary double whistles. Normally, DW shows that a colleague does not trust their partner or is not focused in their primary.
- Increase control in the off the ball playing area. Stay focused if this is your primary. Keep your discipline.
Dear Colleagues.
We are now coming to the area of the sentence ''You are only as good as your last call'. For the clubs, coaches, and players there is no time for corrections. Their emotions will increase to new, higher levels, be ready. We must first be in control of our own emotions and keep our discipline remembering, in any conflict situation, the 'winner' is a person who stays calm. So, be ready for the attacks, as an excuse for some bad results, our advantage is we have experienced this before, a déjà vu moment
Until now, we haven't had any significant or major mistakes. Keep the line and follow the guidelines. Follow and apply the POE, Protocols, and fundamentals in all aspects of modern officiating. The mistakes we make, usually come from our mistakes in applying our fundamentals plus, from unrecognized fake being fouled actions. Finally, I don't like to remind us of the possible acts of violence situations but being reminded is being prepared.
Our officiating team and our officiating community is strong, how strong depends on our weakest part of our chain, of our Team. TEAM is the magic word for successful officiating, it means that any of us can give positive support to our colleagues. Please, no personal promotions, no selfish behaviour. Now, in the last two weeks of the BCL Regular Season, we should show how mature and smart we are. We should show our emotional strength, leadership, and decision-making.
With the respect mentioned, you'll build up my TRUST towards you. For me, as a manager, TRUST is vital and the most important element. My TRUST that you, as part of the officiating community will provide the highest service for our ''customers'', the players, coaches, teams, and fans.
I wish you great games in the next two weeks.
