WEEKLY LETTER - GD3

Dear Referees and Video Observers.
Thank you for your continued hard work, good performances, and respect for the working process.
Behind us we have 3 rounds, with 42 BCL games. During these games we have managed to nominate most of our group, which is important to us.
Below are
the statistic evaluations of the Video Observers, from the first 3 rounds of
the Competition.

As you can see, the main area of your performance is currently being assessed as above standard but, please remember my words at the BCL Pre-Season Clinic, our BCL Competition deserves this level as our standard operating procedures.
In round 3 we had one game that impacted our above standard job. The Video Observers and an actioned second opinion concluded that the Referees officiated at a below standard level, towards both Clubs. It is a level that we do not expect from the FIBA Elite group Referees.
In the folder CLUBS' VIDEO MATERIAL, you can find the play situations, received from the club Galatasaray. It is an original video with the comments by the Galatasaray team, which expresses their point of view.
The overall feedback, received from the Video Observers:
Points to keep/ positive.
- Game control with the high accuracy of decisions (call & no call)
Points for improvement
- Fake being fouled recognition and actions.
- Consistency, first half vs. second half
- Avoid (again):
- Double whistle
- Quick whistle
- Marginal calls
UF criteria
In this round, in 8 games, we had 6 UF situations, with one incorrect final decision. It is a standard average of 0,75 UF decisions per game. Please continue to use the big picture approach and avoid the microscope approach. We also expect you to be decisive on the court but when a difficult situation arises you have a good tool to follow, the UF protocol.
Head Coach Challenge

In GD 03, our coaches continued to challenge, and be sucsessful with out of bounds situations. They were sucsessful with 75% of their requests for L2M out of bounds situations.
IRS usage by Referees

My comments:
We must continue to strive for better, we must stop the mistakes that continue to hold us back and pull us down. For many years now, we have worked to build the confidence, and to gain the players and coaches trust by our hard work, our cooperation and our professionalism, you are our Elite group of referees. By maintaining the highest level of officiating, whilst continuously working to reduce the smallest of mistakes, we will deliver the service the BCL community expect and deserve. We are here to support you on your journey and our message remains the same, follow the fundamentals, use the protocols and have discipline.
I wish you a great week of officiating in all our competitions.
