Letter to Officials - 3

Dear colleagues.

I hope you have all stayed safe and well during the last 3 - 4 months and are slowly getting back to a more normal life.

Please allow me first of all, to express my thanks to you all; BCL referees and video observers for the effort, motivation and open communication during this crisis management condition caused by the COVID-19 situation.

The Referee Department have decided to provide everyone with a period of vacation from July 10th - August 10th. During this time, I hope you will be able to relax, before the preparations for the new BCL season 2020/2021 start. Of course, during the break, we will update our BCL officials' website with the various expert's content and officials' information.

Shortly we will publish the list of the Referees who will be nominated for the 2020/2021 season. We have held long and constructive discussions about the makeup of the group and whilst the movement isn't huge there will be some officials leaving the group and some new names arriving for the 2020/2021 season.

Hopefully you have seen that some new high-level teams have been added to our already competitive League; this will continue to bring extra challenge and a higher percentage of close and decisive games. Our expectations of you will remain very high but I am confident that you, our team of referees, are up to any challenge that might come as a result of the increased competitive environment.

In that direction, recognizing the needs of permanently improving conditions for all stakeholders, the BCL Office decided to increase the officiating fees. The decision taken has highlighted the appreciation for all the hard work done by our referees in the past seasons and it's even more significant considering the worldwide negative economic impact created by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Starting with the BCL Season 2020-21, the officiating fees will be calculated as follows:

• Regular Season - EUR 750 / Game
• Play-Offs - EUR 1200 / Game
• Final Four - EUR 2500 / Event

The official information with all details will be provided on the BCL Game Officials Workshop, planned for the first weekend of September. The final confirmation about the workshop type (live or webinars) will be finalized by the end of July, when the BCL Office will send invitations for next season.
